"Doc" Rob writes the songs and sings, plays acoustic rhythm guitar and harmonica. Keith Austin provided musical direction, keyboard and bass playing are Keith's domains. Dave Dewsnap plays lead guitar. Jordan Tredray plays the drums. Guitar magicians Lennie T and Stefan Kingsford Brown, singer songwriter Clare Christian and vocalist Jacqui Knox aso contribute their skills.
The result is a collection of blues/ folk rock originals, each with a story to tell, a melody you can hum, and an album you can buy at local music stores. Or from us!





Grafia is a group of musicians who write original songs and do cover in the blues/folk rock traditions. The group made the album "Ultimately Free" in 2015 having this remixed in the last few months to produce a significantly improved recording of the eight songs, now titled "Think about it". Five new songs are in the process of being recorded for a forthcoming EP.
It's been 9 years since the core members of the band started working together.
Keith Austin is the magic hand on keyboards + sings back-up vocals. He also adds his arranging and sound tech/mixing skills.
Dave Dewsnap plays lead guitar when we are recording or playing concerts, Dave Murphy when we perform at smaller shows in bars, wineries or cafes.

Grafia Folk Rock Band, 2009--

Grafia, an acronym for "get right away from it all", is a band of musicians working with artists photographers video/film makers and songwriters who enjoy collaborating to perform, compose and record. Based in the Wairarapa they put on/contribute to shows wherever they are invited. Their creative influences stretch across several genres and songwriters including: Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, J.J Cale, Van Morrison, Grateful Dead, Leonard Cohen, John Fogerty, Christy Moore and Jimmy McCarthy to name a few. Grafia is based in Masterton and plays mainly in the lower North Island.
The band makes regular appearances at 'Tin Hut Live' State Hwy 2 north of Featherston
