Grafia play semi-regular sets on the verandah at The Lakehouse in Masterton's Queen Elizabeth Park.

"Doc" Rob writes the songs and sings, plays acoustic rhythm guitar and harmonica. Keith Austin provided musical direction, keyboard and bass playing are Keith's domains. Stephan Schulz plays violin and recorder, Jordan Tredray plays the drums. Guitar magicians Lennie T and Stefan Kingsford Brown, singer songwriter Clare Christian and vocalist Jacqui Knox aso contribute their skills.
The result is a collection of blues/ folk rock originals, each with a story to tell, a melody you can hum, and an album you can buy at local music stores. Or from us!




"Ultimatelv Free" the ALBUM


Grafia is a group of musicians who work collectively with the band creating songs then at their live shows using lighting effects and background imagery to give a sense of drama to each performance. The group has recently made recordings of ten original songs. It's six years since it started playing, covers initially then including their originals in performances and sharing gigs with other musicians/bands.
Keith Austin is the keyboard maestro, who also plays electric bass + sings back-up vocals. In the creative department he adds arranging and producing skills to his instrumental mastery. Dave Dewsnap has recently joined the band playing lead guitar and his partner Jacq Knox is adding her vocal power to the overall sound.Rob Maunsell, the third core member, sings lead vocals, plays guitar + harmonica.

ABOUT GRAFIA:
Grafia Folk Rock Band, 2009--

Grafia, an acronym for "get right away from it all", is a band of musicians working with artists photographers video/film makers and songwriters who enjoy collaborating to perform, compose and record. Based in the Wairarapa they put on/contribute to shows wherever they are invited. Their creative influences stretch across several genres and songwriters including: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton,J.J Cale, Van Morrison, James Taylor, Alan Taylor, Johnny Cash, Solomon Burke, Lenny Te Whare, Christy Moore and Jimmy McCarthy to name a few. Grafia is based in Masterton and plays mainly in the lower North Island. Currently the band plays regularly at The Lakehouse in Queen Elizabeth Park, Masterton.
New opportunities to showcase songs and entertain are welcomed.
