"Doc" Rob writes the songs and sings, plays acoustic rhythm guitar and harmonica. Keith Austin provided musical direction, keyboard and bass playing are Keith's domains. Dave Dewsnap plays lead guitar. Jordan Tredray plays the drums. Guitar magicians Lennie T and Stefan Kingsford Brown, singer songwriter Clare Christian and vocalist Jacqui Knox aso contribute their skills.
The result is a collection of blues/ folk rock originals, each with a story to tell, a melody you can hum, and an album you can buy at local music stores. Or from us!





Grafia is a group of musicians who write original songs and do cover in the blues/folk rock traditions. The group recorded an album, "Ultimately Free", in 2015 and has had this remixed in the last few months to produce a significantly improved recording of the eight songs. Five new songs are in the process of being recorded for a forthcoming EP.
It's been ten years since the core members of the band started playing together.
Keith Austin, makes magic sounds on keyboards and occasionally bass guitar, sings back-up vocals and has his arranging and sound tech/mixing skills activated at gigs.
Steve Shivas plays lead guitar as often as he can, Dave Dewsnap fills in when he can't be there.
Rob Maunsell sings lead vocals, plays rhythm guitar and harmonica.

Grafia Folk Rock Band, 2009--

Grafia, an acronym for "get right away from it all", is a band of musicians/songwriters who enjoy collaborating in performances, composing and recording. Based in the Wairarapa they manage and contribute to shows wherever they are invited. Their creative influences stretch across several genres and songwriters who have inspired them include: John Lennon, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, J.J Cale, Van Morrison, Robert Hunter and Grateful Dead, Leonard Cohen, Christy Moore and Jimmy McCarthy to name a few. Grafia is based in Masterton and plays where invited to in the North Island.
The band plays regularly at 'Tin Hut Live' on State Hwy 2 10km north of Featherston, and The Farmer's Market in Masterton.
